Well Travelled: Hanoi City, Vietnam

Rishad Daroo is a street photographer born in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver, Canada. Now working for the Canadian Tourism Commission, Rishad shares his love of travel and imagery across all aspects of his career. Recently Rishad travelled through South East Asia bringing nothing but his Herschel Supply bags and a camera. Take a look at Rishad’s words and imagery below…

Vietnam has been on my travel wish list these past few years. What attracted me to visit was the images I’ve seen online – the portraits of locals with so much character, the lush greenery and the sense of history that shines through each photograph. Below are a few images from my time spent in Northern Vietnam including Hanoi City and a short visit to Halong Bay.

Well Travelled: South Korea

HSC_Well_Travelled_banner

Darrell Mathes is a well respected professional snowboarder and creative. Leading a generation of youth into street snowboarding, his eye for unique features and photography have brought him all around the globe. This year his travels led him to Korea to explore the cities for their unique architecture and opportunity. Take a moment to view Darrell’s photographs and words below:A trip I never thought I would get to go on – happened. I headed out with a crew to South Korea to do a story for Transworld Magazine and so it began…We landed right outside of Seoul and explored for a few days, seeing the sites and getting to know South Korea bit by bit. We then headed to the mountains to visit a few ski resorts to snowboard and to see what South Korea’s terrain had to offer. All of us were hoping to get a glimpse of the DMZ, so when it happened we were all timid but enthralled by this place that gives the few who dare, a glimpse of what North Korea appears to be. Being there gave all of us such an eery feeling, but a once in a lifetime experience that I’ll never forget. The people, the food, and the culture of South Korea truly enriched my life.

Well Travelled: Varanasi, India

Rishad Daroo is a street photographer born in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver, Canada. Now working for the Canadian Tourism Commission, Rishad shares his love of travel and imagery across all aspects of his career. Take a look at Rishad’s words and imagery from India below and stay tuned for another series with Rishad from Vietnam soon:

Although I’ve travelled to India several times before, I’ve never had the opportunity to visit the Ganges River and the sacred land of Varanasi. This city is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world and the oldest in India. I came here to capture a few portraits and create a short film with filmmaker Rohaan Daroo….who also required a visit to the hospital after a stray dog got the best of him (see below). The people of Varanasi and the local ‘Sadhus’ are the true soul of this city. Below are some images captured from my journey through Mumbai City and Varanasi.

This series of photos is the start of a journey I have begun in Mexico, that I will carry through to South America.
