Whistler Mountain Opening Day. November 14th 2009
People started lining up yesterday afternoon to get the first gondola up, and by 7:30 a.m. this morning, the lineup stretched all the way to Cittas. With 122 centimeters (48 inches) of snow in just over week, and an early opening it brought on the excitement. Ashley, Amanda and I met up for a coffee and got to the lift by 7:10 the line was already at showcase. Our friends Burns and Darrah got to the lift at 5:30 and were still not near the first to get on the gondola. The wait till eight went by quiet quickly, lots of familiar faces in the line, whistler locals coming out of hibernation.
We wasted no time in taking our first run, getting some pow boarding on red chair and then moving over to green chair. Way better and earlier then last years Whistler opening. Enough snow that you could adventure a bit without falling in holes or hitting rocks. Some hilarious catch a tree and front flip’s happened, funny watching everyone get their legs back. Lift lines were pretty quick untill about eleven when the general public had all arrived. At that point we went in for a group lunch. The gangs were out, Endeavor, 8mile, Gnarcore, Pelosi n pals, Peak Season, 6137, Peach hat.. Ashley had premade burriots and was nice enough to share one with me. We headed over to the microwave and to my suprise Whistler/Blackcomb has franks hot sauce! After lunch we rode out the day with Red Chair Hit Runs, and charlie horsed back legs.

To really top off opening day we walked towards Moguls “THE APRE BOARDING SPOT FOR BOARDERS” although their rules had changed and you must purchase an item to enjoy their chairs. We stood in the village for some time until we decided to go to crystal for some chikkkanwinngs. We shared photos from the day and laughed at how doooope everyone was. Decided PARTY AT ART BARN and departed ways.
Party At Art Barn turned into 12 guys two girls and word games, “haha” fun times.
